What God Taught Us Through our Business

Long answer short: God used our business to teach us more about ourselves than the business itself. It's incredible what God can do through us when we simply say “yes” to His work. Many of the challenges we faced weren’t just tests of the business — they were moments God used to shape and teach us personally.

Here are 3 CRUCIAL LESSONS God taught us about us through Witness:

1. It Takes Two (or More)

Doing God’s work often requires two very different people (yes, even pineapple vs. no pineapple on pizza type people..we still haven't sorted that out!) coming together. In the early days of our business, Tarun and I had to learn how to work together in spite of our differences — and those very differences made us better, both as individuals and as co-laborers in God’s Kingdom.Tarun was calm under pressure while I (Sarah) would panic. I thrived on social media and loved engaging with people, whereas Tarun preferred working behind the scenes. God knew that our unique strengths would complement each other — creating a balanced partnership committed to excellence for His glory. As Ecclesiastes 4:12 says: “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

2. Truth Over Trends

In the beginning, we got caught up in the whirlwind of social media trends and marketing advice. Every new strategy that promised overnight success? We tried it. We poured our energy into worldly promises, chasing performance over purpose — and forgot where real power comes from: the One who authored our work in the first place. As Svend Brinkmann put it: "If you think positively every single day, work hard, strive to become the best version of yourself, surround yourself with inspirational people and never give up, then there are no limits to how exhausted you can become."The world offers false hope and burnout disguised as ambition. But God offers true rest. He never slumbers or sleeps — we are invited to rest in that promise.

3. God Pulls Through Every Time

We don’t believe God gives us whatever we want, whenever we want. But we do believe He hears every prayer — even the small, seemingly insignificant ones. There were countless times when Tarun and I felt like giving up. Whether it was feeling inadequate, facing poor sales, or struggling to balance life with running a side hustle — we’ve sat on our bedroom floor, defeated and questioning it all.But each time we brought our doubts to God, He showed up. Sometimes through a sale. Sometimes through a word of encouragement. Other times, an open door. And often, simply through a verse in Scripture. As Jordan Raynor said: “You never learn anything spiritually valuable by being told. You have to be shown.”And we’ve seen it — over and over again.
